Introduction Summary

My name is Pamela (Pam) Goode from the greater rural Deltana area.
I have been an Alaskan for over 15-years.
I was raised in a military family across 6 different states.
With extensive research and travel, my husband and I determined that Alaska had the highest level of personal freedom not found anywhere else in the world. That is why we, and many other Alaskans, now call Alaska their home.

My heart belongs to Alaska and my passion to secure the liberty we found here comes from knowing how special a place it is and how fragile it is at the hands of those who do not know this or do not appreciate it. Liberty does not protect itself and our constitutions are not self-enforcing documents.
A motto my husband and I adhered to during our travels was to "leave a place better than you found it". That has not changed. As I think of the following generations, I stand by this. When we place great "value" on the liberty we have and where it came from, which I do, as an Alaskan and American, I believe it is our duty to secure its foundational principles and freedoms for future generations.

I have been a publicly elected board member of the Deltana Community Corporation for over 12 years, where I currently serve as President.
One of the committees on that board is to monitor the Alaska State Local Boundary Commission which I have done since serving on the board.
I am an axillary member of the local volunteer Fire Department.
I sit on two EMS Committees to help find fiscal solutions to a financially unsustainable EMS challenge.
I have served formally on two local School Board Committee, the policy committee and the strategic planning committee.

I have been actively involved in the legislative process for well over a decade, where I focused on the budget process. I dedicated the time to lean and participate on my own. It was this level of knowledge and experience that made possible the opportunity for me to work as staff in Juneau.
I served in Juneau as legislative staff, for over 2 years.
I have sat through many interviews with Commissioners requesting the legislator's vote for confirmation.
Leaning the legislative process is a full-time endeavor. Many new legislators spend their first year or two, learning the process and coming up to speed. Many refer to it as "drinking from a fire hose". If elected, our district will be well represented on day one.

I worked at the NASA - Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas for 17.5 years on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station Programs. My career at NASA-JSC began working in Mission Control with the launch of the first Space Shuttle and ending prior to the launch of the first node of the Space Station. I departed that career several years later after meeting my husband who had aspirations of experiencing life on the high seas and a long-term goal of a circumnavigation the globe.

We set sail on a 37-foot sailboat and completed our circumnavigation of the globe after being abroad for 11.5 years. Our lifestyle was adventurous, dangerous, educational, labor intensive, full of sacrifices and blessings, and so much more. We traveled through over 25 countries and territories, living off a seafood subsistence diet and a shoe-string budget, and experiencing and appreciating, indigenous cultures all around the world. The only place we could find with hopes of duplicating this level of freedom and adventure on land, was Alaska.

During my travels abroad, I worked at the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Marshall Islands for 2.5 years, where prototypes of interceptor missiles, like those in the ground at Fort Greely, were tested.

Alaska outdoor activities: Riding snowmachines, snowshoeing, cross-country snowskiing, hiking, trail building and maintenance, wilderness travel, camping, target practice, boat rowing, bird watching, berry picking, and a lot of yard work.
I live rural with an outdoor mandated lifestyle.
I heat off wood; therefore, I annually, fell, size, haul, split, and stack firewood and burn slash.
YUKON RIVER: I have canoed the Teslin River from the Johnson Crossing bridge in Canada to the Yukon River and then down the Yukon River to Circle Alaska. The trip took 2-3 weeks. My husband canoed the Koyukuk River from Coldfoot on the haul road to the Yukon River and then down the Yukon River to Nulato Alaska. Unfortunately, I had to work.
My husband grew up hunting white tail deer in Texas and now hunts moose in Alaska. I attend moose camp to assist. He regularly fished the Copper River in Chitna. I am very good at cleaning fish. As a family, subsistence hunting and fishing is a part of our lifestyle and diet. We eat moose and salmon.
Outdoor activities prior to Alaska: Ocean voyaging and world travel, gulf sailing, sailboat racing (J22S), rafting, wade fishing, spear fishing, lake and offshore fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, river rafting (tubing), 4wd expeditions, horseback riding, hiking, beachcombing, downhill snowskiing, camping.
