Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

  • I support and defend the traditional PFD and distribution.  In 2014 and 2016, I forewarned Alaskans that if the scope and size of government was not cut to sustainable levels, elected officials in government would be coming for your PFD and Income.   Strong fiscally responsible  leadership was needed then and even more so now!
  • I will continue to defend the traditional PFD!
  • The PFD  is about ownership.
  • Alaskan’s own, in common (tenants in common), all of Alaska’s resources.

* Tenancy in Common is a specific type of concurrent, or simultaneous, ownership of real property “resources” by two or more parties. … All tenants in common hold an individual, undivided ownership interest in the property.

  • For almost 40 years: Traditional PFD Calculation = Last 5 years of SNI x .21 / 2

* SNI (Statutory Net Income) = Yearly PF investment income + Yearly ER investment income

  • The Institute on Social and Economic Research (ISER) conclusion …

” The impact of the PFD cut falls almost exclusively on residents, and it is highly regressive, so it has the largest adverse  impact on the economy per dollar of revenues raised.”  – Short-Run Economic Impact of Alaska Fiscal Options (May 2016)

“ A cut in PFDs would be by far the costliest measure for Alaska families.”  – How Much Might Closing the State Budget Gap Cost Alaska Families” (Feb 2017)

  • 2016 PFD Amount $2,082      Paid $1,022      Owed $1,060
  • 2017 PFD Amount $2,439      Paid $1,100      Owed $1,339
  • 2018 PFD Amount $2,648      Paid $1,600      Owed $1,048

Total unpaid PFD owed per Alaskan: $3,447

* Pam Goode is a fiscal conservative, forward thinker and long term planner.  In 2014 and 2016 she forewarned Alaskans of an oncoming fiscal crisis if government did not cut the size and scope of government to sustainable levels.  She was right!
