Alaska is one of the few states where citizens can carry firearm concealed or open carry without a license.

This is the way it is supposed to be, and how it should stay.

I oppose “no gun areas,” and feel they are target zones for the bad guys.  I also oppose gun registration, as this is the first step in disarming the people. In my travels, I saw it in two places:

Australia: I was in Australia shortly after the guns were removed from the citizenry. Those that refused to comply are now outlaws. This happened as the result of a mass killing in Port Author. This is an old colonial prison that is now a tourist attraction and was then. Thirty-one people were murdered. Unfortunately, no one was carrying a gun to stop the shooter. This country used to have men that knew how to shoot and carry a gun. Little training would be necessary to make these men battle ready to defend their family, homes, and borders if necessary. Not anymore.

South Africa: We were also in South Africa shortly after the guns were removed from the people. Again it began with gun registration. Here they removed the guns and stored them in a holding area. The area was broken into, and the guns were stolen and sold on the black market.

A gun is a weapon – a tool! And possessing these tools is a Constitutional Right. The purpose of the Second Amendment was not for hunting, but to defend oneself and stop a tyrannical government.

United States Constitution: Amendment II:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Alaska Constitution: Article 1 Section 19:

Right to Keep and Bear Arms – A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The individual right to keep and bear arms shall not be denied or infringed by the State or a political subdivision of the State. [Amended 1994]

I am a member of Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the National Association of Gun Rights (NAGR), and my husband is a member of the National Riffle Association (NRA).

Please note that the NRA only endorses Democrats and Republicans. I am a Constitutonist, a candidate affiliated with the Constitution Party.
